XnViewMP 0.72 is out, install on ubuntu 15.04 vivid Vervet, ubuntu 14.10 Utopic Unicorn, Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr (LTS), Linux Mint 13, 17.1 rebecca and Mac OS X
 
XnViewMP is a freely distributed piece of software that provides users with a modern and cross-platform graphical application for manipulating images under the GNU/Linux, Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X operating systems.

What's New in This Release:
  • GeoHack url has changed
  • Set keyword destroys IPTC metadata on JPEG
  • Left/right keys don't work on last tab
Availability and key features

It is an enhanced version of the XnView project created and distributed by the same team of developers, but only for the Microsoft Windows platform. It's distributed as DEB archives for Debian/Ubuntu-based distributions, as well as binary files for any other GNU/Linux OS.

While supporting more than 500 image formats, the application allows users to view image files, browse photos, and convert images in batch mode. It supports machines with multiple processors, as well as both 64-bit and 32-bit hardware platforms.

Install XnViewMP 0.72 on Linux Mint and Ubuntu Derivative system :

To Install XnViewMP 0.72 on Ubuntu 15.04 vivid Vervet, ubuntu 14.10 Utopic Unicorn, Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr (LTS), Ubuntu 13.10/13.04/12.04, Linux Mint 17.1 Rebecca, Linux Mint 17 Qiana, Linux Mint 13 Maya, Pinguy OS 14.04, Elementary OS 0.3 Freya, Elementary OS 0.2 Luna, Peppermint Five, Deepin 2014, LXLE 14.04, Linux Lite 2.0, Linux Lite 2.2 and other Ubuntu derivative systems, open a new Terminal window and bash (get it?) in the following commands:

i386/32-bit Architectures :
wget http://download.xnview.com/XnViewMP-linux.deb
sudo dpkg -i XnViewMP-linux.deb
sudo rm -rf XnViewMP-linux.deb
Amd64/64-bit Architectures :
wget http://download.xnview.com/XnViewMP-linux.deb
sudo dpkg -i XnViewMP-linux.deb
sudo rm -rf XnViewMP-linux.deb

In case “dpkg” indicates missing dependencies, complete the installation by executing the following command:
sudo apt-get install -f

The source is available now (32 & 64 bit) and for mac OS X download in here. Binary packages are in the process of being built, and will appear soon at their respective download locations.
