Counter Strike: Global Offensive Available For Linux
Valve finally released Counter Strike: Global Offensive for Linux.
Counter Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) is an objective-based multiplayer first-person shooter in which players join either the Terrorist or Counter-Terrorist team. CS:GO uses the Source engine and it was initially released in August, 2012, as the fourth game in the Counter-Strike franchise.
Compared to the previous games in the series, CS:GO includes ranked match-making, extra weapons and equipment, new and revamped maps along with extra modes (Arms Race, Arsenal: Demolition - which combines Defuse and Arms Race, and Deathmatch) and more.
In my short test under Ubuntu 14.10, I didn't encounter any major issues while playing CS:GO, even with my laptop's integrated Intel graphics. However, since the game was just released for Linux, expect to find some bugs (check out this Reddit thread for some potential issues) - if you encounter bugs, report them @ GitHub.
Note that game Steam page wasn't updated to show the newly added Linux support so it won't show up in the Linux section yet, but this should change soon.
Buy Counter Strike: Global Offensive via Steam (£11.99 / $14.99)

QLLauncher: Quake Live Launcher For Linux
QLLauncher is a Quake Live launcher for Linux which comes with various tweaks that should improve the game's performance. Furthermore, the tool supports downloading and updating Quake Live along with other useful features.
For those not familiar with Quake Live, this is a free to play (with optional subscription options that include more arenas, game types and game server options) first-person shooter video game developed by id Software that was originally downloaded and launched via a web browser plugin. About a year ago, Quake Live became a standalone game and with this, Linux and Mac were no longer supported, though the game can still be played via Wine.

Now back to Quake Live launcher for Linux (QLLauncher). It's important to note that to be able to play Quake Live under Linux, you'll need Wine - installing QLLauncher from the PPA will install Wine if it's not already installed on your system.
Also, QLLauncher only works with Quake Live accounts which aren't connected with Steam. If you have an account connected with Steam, you'll have to create a new Quake Live account to be able to use QLLauncher.

QLLauncher features:
- better Quake Live performance on Linux (it blocks awesomium_process, which causes lag and lower FPS, among others);
- automatically downloads / updates Quake Live;
- browse game servers with optional filters;
- join server by server ID or IP address;
- spawn your own server (this is a premium Quake Live feature);
- set mouse acceleration.
While the app is great and I didn't encounter any functionality issues with QLLauncher or Quake Live in my test under Ubuntu 14.10, the QLLauncher main UI could use some improvements. That's because there are no window decorations so to move the window you must hold the ALT key and drag the window with your mouse. Also, to close it, you must press the ESC key.
Install QLLauncher in Ubuntu 14.04 or 14.10 / Linux Mint 17 or 17.1
The latest QLLauncher is available in a PPA, for Ubuntu 14.04 and 14.10 / Linux Mint 17 and 17.1 and derivatives. To add the PPA and install QLLauncher, use the following commands:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:broken/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install qllauncherIf you don't want to add the PPA, you can download the latest QQLauncher deb from HERE.
Update: Arch Linux users can now install QLLauncher (git) via AUR.
To grab the QLLauncher source code, report bugs and so on, see its Bitbucket page.
Once installed, start QLLauncher from your menu / Dash and the tool will download Quake Live for you:
Once the game download completes, open the QLLauncher settings and enter your Quake Live username and password - that's it, now click "Servers" (or manually enter a server), select a server and start playing Quake Live on Linux:
Borderlands 2 Game Is Coming To Linux / Steam OS
It looks like Borderlands 2 , a popular video game released in 2012, is coming to Linux / Steam OS.
The Borderlands 2 steamdb history page shows that Linux was recently added to the config oslist file:

In fact, the game already shows up for Linux users in their Steam library, but it can't be played yet.
Furthermore, the folks at GamingOnLinux contacted Aspyr Media, the company that ported Borderlands 2 to Mac back in 2012, and they confirmed that indeed, they've been working on porting Borderlands 2 to Linux for months and that they "will talk about a release date as soon as possible".
For those not familiar with Borderlands 2, this is an action role-playing first-person shooter video game developed by Gearbox Software and published by 2K Games. According to Wikipedia, the game was a financial success and with 8.5 million copies sold by February 2014, it's 2K Games' best-selling game.

New Unreal Tournament Game Will Be Available For Linux, Free

After announcing Linux / SteamOS support for the latest Unreal Engine 4.1 about two weeks ago, a recent announcement posted on the Unreal Engine wiki mentions that the next Unreal Tournament game will be "not free to play, just free" and it will be available for Linux as well as Windows and Mac:
"Work on the future of Unreal Tournament begins today, and we're happy to announce that we're going to do this together, with you. We know that fans of the game are as passionate about Unreal Tournament as we are. We know that you have great ideas and strong opinions about where the game should go and what it should be. So let’s do something radical and make this game together, in the open, and for all of us. [...] Development will be focused on Windows, Mac and Linux".
Epic Games plans to make money by creating a marketplace where developers, modders, artists and gamers can give away, buy and sell mods and contents and the earnings will be split between the content developer and Epic.
It will take a while until the game is playable since the development starts from scratch, but an Alpha should be available in a few months.
