Kodi 14.0 Helix Released, Install on Linux mint and ubuntu derivative system via PPA

Kodi (formerly XBMC Media Center) is an open source and very powerful project that provides all the necessary tools for transforming your regular PC into a bona fide HTPC, which if used in conjunction a big screen TV and a Hi-Fi audio system, will transform your living room into a veritable home theater.


Kodi 14.0 Helix Changes : 
Below we will give a snapshot of the most important fixes done since the first release candidate.

* Bump FFmpeg to 2.4.4

* Fix LPCM (audio/L16) streaming via UPnP
* Use correct art type when appending art to item lists
* Fix python PIL package on Windows that caused crash on weather add-on
* Updated GUI translation files

To Install on Linux Ubuntu (13.04, 13.10, 15.04 Vivid Vervet, Ubuntu 14.10 Utopic Unicorn, Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr), Linux Mint 17.1 Rebecca, Linux Mint 17 Qiana, Linux Mint 13 Maya, Pinguy OS 14.04, Elementary OS 0.3 Freya, Elementary OS 0.2 Luna, Peppermint Five, Deepin 2014, LXLE 14.04, Linux Lite 2.0 and other Ubuntu derivative systems via PPA, Use the command line terminal and enter the following commands. Follow the prompts as you would any other software installation :

Stable PPA
sudo apt-get install python-software-properties pkg-config
sudo apt-get install software-properties-common
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:team-xbmc/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install kodi
 UnStable PPA
sudo apt-get install python-software-properties pkg-config
sudo apt-get install software-properties-common
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:team-xbmc/unstable
sudo apt-get update 
sudo apt-get install kodi

Optional, to remove kodi, open a new Terminal window and bash (get it?) in the following commands:
sudo apt-get remove kodi
