Joomla! is an award-winning, easy to use and extensible software project that aims to deliver an open source CMS (Content Management System) solution to users who are bored with their regular content management systems and want to try something different. It is built using the PHP and MySQL web technologies, and it can be used to deploy powerful websites to your clients, as well as to build astonishing web apps.

What's new in Joomla! 3.4.1:

The 3.4 release introduces new features into the CMS such as improved front end module editing, decoupling of weblinks, composer integration, Google new reCaptcha and security improvements by implementing UploadShield code which can detect most malicious uploads by examining their filenames and file contents. Please note: Due to technical reasons we have had to disable the Install from Web Service. We are working to get it back online as soon as possible.

What can I do with Joomla!

With Joomla!, you will be able to create corporate websites and portals, community-based portals, corporate extranets and intranets, websites for non-profit organizations, family or personal homepages, websites for churches and schools, online reservation systems, e-commerce websites, publications, online magazines, government applications, newspapers, as well as websites for small and medium-sized businesses.

As mentioned, Joomla! is written entirely in the PHP server-side scripting language and uses the award-winning and powerful MySQL database server for storing its data. Being designed as a web-based application, Joomla! runs on top of a web server (e.g. Apache) and it is independent of a computer OS. Of course, this means that you can use it through a supported and modern web browser on GNU/Linux, BSD, Solaris, Mac OS X, Microsoft Windows and any other operating system

nginx [engine x] is an HTTP and reverse proxy server, as well as a mail proxy server, written by Igor Sysoev. For a long time, it has been running on many heavily loaded Russian sites including Yandex, Mail.Ru, VK, and Rambler.

• Feature: the “use_temp_path” parameter of the “proxy_cache_path”, “fastcgi_cache_path”, “scgi_cache_path”, and “uwsgi_cache_path” directives
• Feature: the $upstream_header_time variable
• Workaround: now on disk overflow nginx tries to write error logs once a second only
• Bugfix: the “try_files” directive did not ignore normal files while testing directories
• Bugfix: alerts “sendfile() failed” if the “sendfile” directive was used on OS X; the bug had appeared in 1.7.8
• Bugfix: alerts “sem_post() failed” might appear in logs
• Bugfix: nginx could not be built with musl libc
• Bugfix: nginx could not be built on Tru64 UNIX

To Install nginx 1.7.10 on Ubuntu and Linux Mint via PPA :

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:nginx/development
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install nginx
